About Me

My name is Lauren Anderson, and I have been teaching in some form or another for over 20 years! I’ve taught in many environments: public school, charter school, homeschool co-ops, and now a hybrid school. My variety of teaching experiences has shown me what works in large and small groups and both in formal and informal settings. I love helping teachers and hope that the knowledge and resources I share can make your teaching more exciting and effective!

Background and Experience

I have a Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education: Social Studies and a Master’s degree in Instructional Technology. I taught in public schools for thirteen years, and then decided to homeschool my children. During the last 11 years while teaching my own children, I have continued to work on curriculum development and taught various grades and subjects in homeschool co-ops. I currently teach at a homeschool hybrid school, where I teach two days face-to-face and provide remote work for the students at home the rest of the week.

My Original Blog

Years ago, I decided to start a blog called Let’s Teach History to share helpful US History resources (including my own) with others. As I came across more and more resources that apply to the other fields in social studies (like geography, economics, etc.), I decided I wanted to start a new website that could provide helpful resources for those subjects as well. So, this is it!

My Philosophy

  • Degrees don’t make someone a good teacher. Good teaching is a result of passion for the content and students, along with a lot of hard work and planning.
  • If you are bored, your students will be bored.
  • It’s the teacher’s job to make the content interesting. Keep digging until you find something your students can connect with.
  • Your students will rise to your expectations. Expect a lot, but give your students the tools to meet your expectations.
  • Use videos, pictures, and music to make your content come alive.
  • If you don’t like students, don’t be a teacher.
